Overview

First and foremost, this isn't just a training manual for drivers - it's intended as a reference for all HVAC members, since everyone should know the basics about the vehicles they're in. Awareness is key. This training manual is divided into three modules:

  1. Introduction to Vehicles: Required for all members.
  2. Introduction to Emergency Vehicles: Required for all members with a driver's license.
  3. Emergency Vehicle Operations: Required for all driver trainees.

As members get closer to driver training, they progress through the different modules. This style is necessary because non-driver members may be called upon to drive other vehicles (such as the ALS flycar/ambulance or supervisor's vehicle) in urgent situations. All members with a driver's license should be, at minimum, capable of operating emergency vehicles in a non-emergency mode safely and expeditiously.
